The magic of the magnificent British band doesn’t end on Keith Reid’s lyrics and Gary Brooker’s astonishing craftsmanship, but on the bands superb playing and especially on the liaison of Brooker’s piano and Matthew Fisher’s keyboards as well. The show was filmed at the Union Chapel on December 12^th, 2003 and in the band there’s also Matt Pegg on bass, Mark Brzezicki on drums and Geoff Whitehorn on guitar. The choice of the venue was good, although it doesn’t come out on screen, but it made me want to watch them live. Brooker’s voice is still hoarse and heavy, thus songs like “Shine on Brightly”, “Pandora’s Box”, “Conquistador”, “A Whiter Shade Of Pale”, “Homburg”, just to mention a few, sounds now like…then. Most of the shots are focused on Gary Brooker (which is natural), the sound is digital surround, Dolby surround 5.1,while the DVD clocks at 139’, while in the special effects you can watch an interview of Gary Brooker, as well as alternative angles. There is also an audio cd included on the deluxe edition.
