Evergrey, Chaoswave
Sin City, Athens, Greece
22/09/2009

All these peeps waiting in line to listen to some politicians bluh-bluh… Cheap faces and expensive suits… Not my mug of beer… Young at heart peeps with funny Tshirts and a natural sparkle… Now we’re talking… They’re heading to the venue… Full house tonite… The kids are alright…

Italian band Chaoswave, with Danish guitarist Guf, hit the stage… Clear sound, excellent almost-digitized guitar roaring, six-string basskiller and a beautiful drumming thing… Pure noise aroma… The band is so powerful and their music proposition is very interesting. Aggressive yet melodic, with some progressive passages and tough tempos, outbursts leading to continuous moshing… Female and male vocals in passion and the driving force to crank it up. The singers play to the crowd, take pictures… “Please, check out the merchandise. A very handsome guy is waiting to assist you”… Dude, you should have put a pretty girl there as well… They played for almost forty-five min and they left with the best impression. As Guf and Michele (bass) told us, they really liked the crowd and the feedback.

Ten minutes after ten… The Swedish invade. A quintet on a small stage. Tom Englund mentioned it must have been the smallest they’ve ever played…
Despite that they didn’t have any problem at all to demolish the establishment, based on that ultra firestorming Metal they possess. Bass guitarist (also using a sixkiller) made iron melt, drummer is still smashing, keyboard player filled everything so elegantly and the other guitarist… Maaan, you should hear his sound… He did incredible stuff. A fine intermission, featuring guitar and keys flirting led to “The Masterplan”, followed by a rain of applause. Kick-off song “Fear” (from their latest album, “Torn”) drove us to “More than ever”, then it was “Blinded”… Audience went bananas… They kept shouting, demanding more songs, you name it… The band had given a very special acoustic show a while earlier; Tom mentioned the show and “Words mean nothing”, keys and vox only, became an adoration altar… Same applies for full-band performance of “I’m sorry”… They leave the stage momentarily, then return then more orders from the crowd. They play “Recreation day”; some peeps demand “Blackened dawn”… Tom is thinking about it… “Well, if you sing, we’ll play it”… Jon, from the Greek band Need, is already on stage, attacking the mic. It’s a warzone now. Mosh and pits and craziness. Sounds a bit cool, hehe… Then it’s time for more. Wow, it’s midnight… Evergrey wave goodnight, they’ll be back in a few minutes for photos and autographs and chit-chat… Speaking of photos, Evergrey asked the crowd to pose with “Manowar hands”. The venue is full and intents to be that way till… the next day.

Unfortunately, the two Greek bands, which were supposed to support tonight, were cut off. I heard some stuff regarding that, yet I chose not to write it down cuz I need to know exactly what happened. A matter of organizing things, no doubt. However, I have to keep the fact that everybody had a GREat time… till next time.
