The British are huge musicians, having done almost everything throughout their thirty years course. Having tasted big success early, they continued as the top progressive band in the wide Rock area, they have experimented like no one else for years and now they operate as they please, without having to prove anything. Furthermore, by having a rather solid core of unregretted fans, they do whatever they want to do.
An acoustic album is something that was missing from their discography. Here it is then, answering the name “Less Is More”. A total of twelve acoustic compositions, not far from their last projects motif, however one will discover here that Marillion address a wider audience as their experimentations keep on existing, yet the final product is much closer to the ears of “common mortals”.
I write it down once again and I will probably write it again for the next Marillion album, that I don’t feel “full” in order to criticize them and I’m just doing a “Less Is More” presentation. It takes a lot, which only a few possess, to be able to pass judgment on Marillion.
Now, why am I suggesting this album? For the same reason I have suggested all their previous ones. For in every project by this band will we encounter something new (more or less recognizable), the atmosphere which only they can produce and give away, moreover now that they do something for the first time in the studio, something which will make even not hardcore fans to… travel.
It is a pity that their current tour, acoustic as well, will not come to Greece. Lithuania, Estonia and almost half of Europe is sold out. I’m asking too much, right?
