We are hanging out at the Press Area, at the Hard Rock Hell Festival. This is the place where artists and media (apart from the Artist&Media bar of course) can chat and deliver the news, the news you like to read about. We meet English Punk/Glam Rockers Spit Like This coincidentally; most things happen that way anyway... We take our seats and talk about the new album and the band and the gigs... Whilst this mini interview unfolds, Lord Zion (vox) and Vikki Spit (bass and easily the hottest lady of the whole festival) talk about their music and the future and they make us all proud. Youth, good looks, talent, their own style... They’ve got our vote!

Interview by Costas Koulis and Dimitris Kazantzis.

Rockpages.gr : Spit Like This is almost unknown to our country... So we would appreciate it if you could tell us a few things about you. Where you’re from, your musical style...

Spit Like This : We’re from, pretty much, London... South of London... We’ve been going for a few years... Our style of music... We call it Glam Punk Rock, a bit The Damned crossed with Motley Crue, something like that. We’ve got an album out in the UK and its gonna come out across Europe next year.

Rockpages.gr : And the title would be?

Spit Like This : The title of the album is “We won’t hurt you (but we won’t go away)”... We like it...

Rockpages.gr : Self explanatory...

Spit Like This : Yeah! (laughs) We signed with a label in Sweden called GMR.

Rockpages.gr : Satisfied with the way they’re treating you?

Spit Like This : We’ve been in another label and this one is our favorite so far...

Rockpages.gr : Regarding this particular festival, I saw that you’re playing after-hours.

Spit Like This : Yeah, we’re actually closing the festival!

Rockpages.gr : How’s the band on stage? How would you describe your presence on stage?

Spit Like This : It’s very energetic... It’s bombastic. Me, Vikki and Cyndi, our guitar player, are moving around the stage all the time... We’re trying to distract the audience as much as we can. It’s a proper Rock an’ Roll show, a big explosion (e.n. Vikki uses the phrase “It’s interactive experience”). This is not our first time here. We’re the only band who’s been in all three Hard Rock Hell festivals. First year we were on the main stage, opening up. Last year we were in a mid day slot and we ended up being voted the seventh best band of the festival. This year we’re closing it.

Rockpages.gr : You next live gig?

Spit Like This : We’re going to a thing which is called the “SFX weekender”, which is in February, which is another similar thing to this.

Rockpages.gr : In England?

Spit Like This : Yeah! The album is also coming out in February.

Rockpages.gr : How do you feel about the British audience?

Spit Like This : Ehm... obviously we love our fans but the Rock scene in the UK isn’t very big. Rock is not featured on mainstream TV at all. To be in a Rock band is hard work. Because you don’t get any support from the media. There are a few Rock magazines but if you’re not featured in them... In other countries it seems to be about the music...

Rockpages.gr : I know what you mean. In Finland Rock music is being played twenty four seven...

Spit Like This : We’d love to play everywhere... So, if there’s a stage in Greece...
