Fan Can VI Metallica
Fan Can VI
Met Club

Met Club is the Official Fan Club of Metallica that numbers thousands of fans all over the world and provides its members with exclusive products and various goodies which have previously been approved by the band members themselves. One such exclusive product was this year’s Fan Can –the sixth since the inception of the fan club in 1993- that was released in limited quantities (7.500 to be exact) for very few lucky fan club members. Needless to say, that almost by definition this is destined to be a collector’s item like its predecessors.

Let’s see what this can has to offer to us: A double DVD (or Blue Ray), a T’ shirt, a keychain and a free code number for a free download of a Metallica show straight from the band’s vaults. The DVD is actually a tribute to the Metallica fans in Denmark as it captures the five sold-out shows that the band gave in Copenhagen in July of 2009. The first disc includes the whole fourth day where Metallica is absolutely on fire! Hetfield, Ulrich, Hammett and Trujillo are absolutely magnificent and the hailstorm of past and present hits is constant and relentless. Of special notice is the presence of a few obscure songs like “Leper Messiah”, “Dyers Eve”, “No Leaf Clover”, “Suicide and Redemption” etc. The second disc offers selected tracks from the rest of the Copenhagen dates plus interviews and behind the scene footage. We should point out that all the camera shooting and the interviews were handled by various Met Club Members and the overall quality is great while the feeling is immediate and…takes you right in the middle of the Metallica live extravaganza. Kudos to the director and the editor for doing a superb job.

Fan Can VI is a perfect sample of the work ethic and the excellent effort that all the people in the Met Club are making. This exclusive release is yet another fine example and it should be used as a guide for other Fan Clubs in order to run smoothly such a business.

Highlight: Lars Ulrich’s interview in Danish conducted by a nervous fan…
