Now that the effect of the Cretan sun combined with the summer vacations starts to wear off, I believe I can try to write some words concerning the best Rock and Metal festival of Greece. Yes, it’s that simple. Chania Rock Festival has become the best one of its kind and that is because of the combination of various reasons. Location, organization and participating bands. The decision to move the festival inside the San Salvatore bastion 4 years ago, was a total winner.

New Long Fest is here again. The longest running underground festival that pays tribute to the hard and heavy scene of Greece is back for another year and we couldn’t miss a trip to the countryside. Unfortunately, only for the first of two days but that’s better than nothing. Beers, souvlakia, plenty of merch, nice atmosphere amongst the fans and lots of music are once again the elements of this festival.

I had to visit the area of Malakasa to watch the festival since 2012. It's been a long time and I have a lot of memories. The first time was in 1999 and as years passed by I saw almost all the big names of the metal scene at this festival. Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Saxon, Megadeth, Metallica, Manowar, Savatage, Nightwish and others.

Sunday’s extreme heat probably was a factor that might discouraged some people to go to Terra Vibe in Malakasa. Except from the people who was trying to find a place in the shade the band had to overcome the heat and be what they were supposed to be on stage.
