Just when it seemed like the war of words between Slash and Axl Rose had finally died down, a third party has jumped into the fray. Yesterday (July 10) actor Charlie Sheen, a neighbor and friend of the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist, took a public swipe at Rose.
The incident took place in front of the Hard Rock Cafe on Hollywood Blvd., where Slash was getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the ceremony, the star of ‘Men at Work’ and ‘Hot Shots!’ said, “It’s quite fitting that Slash is getting a star on the very street Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on.”
Not content to leave a perfectly good zinger hanging, Sheen, whose sense of public decorum is legendary, added, “This star is going to be stepped on more than the coke we did in the ’80s,” as some in attendance presumably scratched their heads at the notion of cocaine being stepped on rather than snorted or freebased. (Actually, this was in L.A., so at least somebody in the crowd has probably had their expensive stash diluted with baby powder once or twice before.)
Following the event, Slash and his vocalist Myles Kennedy went into the Hard Rock for a private acoustic performance and question-and-answer session with fans.
