It was only fair, and it happened! I am delighted that Triumph is back in the spotlight after many years, thanks to the release of this amazing tribute album, which has been approved by the Canadian supergroup. You know what? I always thought that Triumph didn’t get the credit they deserved based on the quality of their releases. Personally speaking, albums like “Thunder Seven,” “The Sport of Kings,” and “Surveillance” will always have a prominent place in my record collection. Especially “Thunder Seven”…God, what a masterpiece! So seeing all these legendary musicians paying tribute to Triumph makes me even happier!
There are three main characteristics of “Magic Power”: the crystal-clear production, the faithful rendition of the original performances, and the presence of incredible musicians who all (and I mean all) give their best. You listen to Sebastian Bach on “Rock & Roll Machine” and imagine him as a kid in his room somewhere in Ontario, playing Triumph’s album of the same name over and over. He sings with such passion. Dee Snider takes the Canadians’ most classic song, the immortal “Lay It On The Line,” to new heights. Joey Belladonna makes you wonder if you’re listening to Rik Emmet… that’s how similar he sounds on the anthem “Magic Power.” Mickey Thomas on “Spellbound” and Jack Blades on “Follow Your Heart” give the world another chance to discover the essence of “Thunder Seven.” And many others…
One might wonder why anyone would buy a tribute to Triumph, especially if they already have the albums. The answer is clear: none! Yes… you read that right! You know what, it’s not about sales or supporting a band in need. What matters here is universal recognition from the community and the joy this brings to millions of Triumph fans. But do yourself a favor…listen to a few samples from “Magic Power.” You’ll immediately understand that everyone gives their all in this recording. And that’s what makes “Magic Power” a magical album!
