Almah is the band founded by the former Angra frontman Edu Falaschi in 2006 and has delivered 4 studio albums since with E.V.O. being the fifth. Almah started as Falaschi’s solo project (with international participations by Kamelot drummer Casey Grillo and Nightwish guitarist Emppu Vuorinen) and evolved into a full band and eventually Falaschi’s priority after his departure from Angra in 2012. The musical resemblance between Almah and Angra is obvious but does not define everything that is going on in this record. This is a diverse listen with contemporary power metal sound, very close to what Avantasia and Edguy are doing and with the aura of Kamelot and Nightwish. It also looks towards the progressive metal direction as manifested by Swedish bands like Seventh Wonder. With attention to detail, well crafted, commercial sounding, fresh and flawlessly delivered by an ensemble of relatively unknown but exceptional musicians. So this musical proposition by Almah definitely deserves the attention of all the friends of European sounding melodic power metal. Entertainment is guaranteed.
