During the lockdown when every activity stopped and more or less everything was cancelled some restless spirits in Scandinavia found something to fill their free time.

Inspired by the classic movies, that surely everyone aged from 40 to 50 have watched and loved, they released video covers from ‘80s and ‘90s movies, on YouTube. Obviously, since travelling was not allowed everyone had to record and video themselves at their own space. Once a week a new song was uploaded and now all the material is compiled in two albums, one for each decade.

The work is of the highest standards in all levels with “maestro” Chris Lainey (Pretty Maids) conducting an all-star cast of musicians consisted of: Allan Sørensen (Pretty Maids, Royal Hunt) a true powerhouse on drums, Pontus Norgren (Hamerfall) on guitar, Pontus Egberg (King Diamond, Wolf, Treat) on bass, Morten Sandager (Pretty Maids, Mercenary) on keyboards and of course the always busy Björn “Speed” Strid (The Night Flight Orchestra, Soilwork). Female vocals were handled by Linnéa Vikström Egg (Kamelot, Therion). Add also Ronnie Atkins of Pretty Maids and Bruce Kulick who appeared as special guests…

Although the two albums are equal, personal preferences and the memories from those movies and eras will eventually give a head start to either of the two albums. As a matter of fact the title “The Soundtrack Of Our Life” was not used accidentaly. So, you’ve got λοιπόν “Rocky 4”, “Flashdance”, “James Bond”, “Dirty Dancing”, “Back To The Future”, “Beverly Hills Cop” etc VS. “Pretty Woman”, “Notting Hill”, ” “Doc Holywood”, “Drive Me crazy”, “Three Men And A Little Lady” and so on…

Both albums are fun to listen to and they actually give a different dimension to covers album, as here we have music from movies, different styles and eras, that Lainey’s “armada” makes its own. All the versions are heavier than the originals and the band puts it’s identity on every song.

Note that there is a limited special box set including both albums on cassette, a pair of sun glasses (!) and… a Walkman!
