The tragic news of Gary Rossignton’s death, the only survivor from Skynyrd’s original members of the fatal plane crash in 1977, made a huge impact in the States and on this year’s CMT awards ceremony very popular musicians payed the ultimate tribute in a 7-minute medley.

Paul Rodgers, Billy Gibbons, Slash, Warren Hayes, Chuck Leavell, alongside country stars Cody Johnson, Wynonna Judd and LeAnn Rimes, got up on stage to perform “Simple Man” and “Sweet Home Alabama”, while the screens were projecting photos of Rossignton and Skynyrd.

The legendary Southern rock band’s current members were in the audience enjoying the performance and applauding.
