Guitarist Andreas Gulstrand’s band returns after a three-year hiatus with, once again, a revamped lineup, the most notable change being the addition of new vocalist Simon Boos. So, three years after “III Weightless,” the band returns with yet another album under the Frontiers label.
For those who don’t know Creye—which is a shame because they’re exceptional—the band plays top-notch AOR; we’re talking Champions League level! That doesn’t change on their new album, which is packed with delightful tracks. The rich sound and warm production elevate the result.
There’s a wide variety here. From the rockier “Something Missing” and “Bad Romance” to the more melodic “Left In Silence” and “Only You,” the album keeps the listener’s attention riveted from start to finish. Yes, it’s one of those albums you listen to in its entirety and then start over from the beginning.
All in all, “IV” is clearly a well-crafted album. It simply confirms the rule that in Scandinavia, the water is different!
