After the announcement of Misfits’ reunion singer Glenn Danzig has been working really hard being in the studio writing his next solo album, while he’s got an album’s worth of material with covers of… Elvis Presley songs. “Elvis is actually kind of how I got into music,” Danzig told Rolling Stone last year. “When I was a kid, I was cutting school pretending I was sick and I would lie at home watching old movies, and ‘Jailhouse Rock’ came on with Elvis. I was like, ‘I want to do this. This is great.’ And that’s how I veered to music.” On his Facebook page he posted that he was going in the studio this week with Tommy Victor and Joey Castillo to write his next solo album. As for the unexpected Misfits reunion he comments: “I don’t think people should question it too much. It may have never happened, but it is going to happen for at least two shows. We’ll see how it goes. It may lead to some other work, but who knows how it’s going to turn out?” He pauses. “I mean, I don’t think it’s going to be a disaster; I think it’s going to be incredible.” As for how exactly this reunion happened Jerry Only said: “We were never not friends. We were just adversaries. Larry Bird might not have liked Michael Jordan on the court, but when they go out to a bar they’re cool. We went in court wanting to cut each other’s throats. It was turning into another court battle and it turned into a reunion. We walked out the door knowing we were going to play together. It’s a very cool thing.”
