Do you remember the time when hard rock dominated the whole planet and America was leading the way? We’re talking about the glory years of the 80’s when MTV monopolized the interest of the TV audience, supermarkets loaded their shelves with plenty of hairspray and bands released gold and platinum records! The…sonic compass pointed almost permanently to the West and the other side of the Atlantic thus we couldn’t be happier. Many years have passed since then and USA has not only lost the reigns of hard rock music but seems to have turned its back on the genre altogether. So imagine my surprise when I “stumbled” upon these kids, DAZR! Without exaggeration, we are talking about the best thing to come out of America in many, many years! And it’s not just the songs…it’s the right attitude that we miss from the vast majority of the bands nowadays.
So, what do we find on the DAZR EP? The ideal mixture of late 80s with a dose of 70s aesthetics, especially in terms of the structure of the compositions. Imagine Skid Row and Steelheart meeting Zeppelin in an explosive mix with an excellent production and a flawless performance. The up-tempo tracks bring out the “in your face” and “take no prisoners” attitude of the hair metal movement while the undeniable highlight is the incredible power ballad “Can’t Take It Anymore” that brings to mind the hard rock masterpieces of the late 80s!
In an era where everything is detrimental, DAZR attempts something that seems (and probably is) impossible in this day and age: to remind all of America how hard rock should be played, with an uncompromising attitude and a proper songwriting. Press play on the video link below and mark our words: DAZR is a brilliant band and its goal is crystal clear: make hard rock music great again!
Highlight: DAZR comes from South Carolina.
