The Swedish outfit of Degreed is surely an interesting case…“Life Love Loss” –their 2010 release- displays a mature picture and a fine sample of melodic rock sounds that balances on the glorious 80’s heydays and the modern vibes of the 21st century. I would, also, add that Degreed offers a unique, remarkable suggestion for all those out there who are not satisfied by the plain reproduction of the old musical patterns.
In “Life Love Loss” we encounter power pop traces with alternative passages through the prism of the melodic rock genre…I think that’s an accurate characterization. The songs are memorable enough while the rendition of Steve Perry’s “Captured By The Moment” is truly successful.
All in all, I’d say that this is a well-crafted and rounded album that manages to attract both the old school fans and the newcomers of a seemingly resurrected genre.
