The mighty Destruction is back with yet another gem of their long and illustrious career. “Day of Reckoning” is an awesome piece of work that will definitely appeal to all the old followers of the band while it won’t fail to attract young headbangers who were not, naturally, raised with the Destruction sounds. I will be honest…I wasn’t really fond of “D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N.”. Not that it was bad or mediocre…but when it comes down to Destruction, only the best is sufficient enough! “Day of reckoning” is far better than its predecessor –in regards with the overall quality of the compositions- and if I had to point down a single difference with the previous record, that would be the old-school feeling that it is evident all over the new offering. This retro and almost nostalgic atmosphere is enriched by a few modern sonic twists (for instance in the title track and “The Demon is God”) that make the final result variable and complete.

Schmier and Sifringer are in a pretty good shape and their performance is flawless –aided by the bombastic production- while of notice is the presence of a new drummer called Vaaver. He’s doing a great job although we can’t help but noting that the drummer’s spot must be cursed for the German Thrash Legends!

All in all, “Day of Reckoning” might not be groundbreaking but it’s fast, furious, in your face and…Destruction! Especially, the song “Sorcerer of Black Magic” is one of the best songs of the last decade for Destruction. The Day of Reckoning is here for us all!
