I am one of those who thought greatly of “Fallen”, said rave things about it and I simply (and silently) accepted “The Open Door”. I am not sure, though, that I can put up with this musical opus of the most commercially successful metal female fronted band from USA, after a short yet incomprehensible hiatus. The third, self titled, Evanescence album is simply bearable; nothing more or less. All we can find in here is a good hit called “The Change” and 11 mediocre mid-tempo tracks and judging from that, we reach the conclusion that “Evanescence” will not give thrills down the spine of the fans while the ever successful formula of the ballads is absent in this third records (with “Lost In Paradise” being again…simply OK).

I really can’t be sure of how many of these below par songs can be chosen in the set-list of Evanescence’s upcoming tour.

If this was the debut of a new band, then maybe –and only maybe- could have been evaluated otherwise. But, this is not the album that one expected from a multi-million dollar budget band that became instant idols around the world a few years ago with an awesome debut.

The question that lies here is: Is really Evanescence a big band?
