I am very fond and partial actually when it comes down to Goo Goo Dolls as I personally believe that they are rightfully at the top of the modern US sound (together with Nickelback) in the last 15 or so years. Every single release of theirs provides an important note as the band enters the studio only when they feel like they have something substantial to record (well, they truth is that they have earned this luxury after their continuous commercial success).
This new EP is a live concert exclusively for iTunes, consisting of 5 songs cued from their latest record “Something For The Rest Of Us” + the classic “Slide”. Essentially, this is a promotional tool for the studio record but also a gift to all their fans (who buy exclusively from iTunes, and there are many of them especially in USA).
Needless to say that the overall quality of the recording is superb while Goo Goo Dolls are as usually on top form. If only this could be available as a physical product as well…
Highlight: All the Bon Jovi fans should better listen to Goo Goo Dolls’ “Dizzy Up The Girl” and “Gutterflower”…I am sure that they will notice some familiar elements with the sound of their favorite band from 2005 up to this day.
