Hexx - Entangled In Sin

Hexx, a true Bay Area legend, is a band with turbulent history. Continuous line-up changes, swifts in musical direction, disbanding, reactivation. They have done ‘em all. But during this turmoil they have managed to maintain a certain level musicwise, either we are talking about power, thrash or death metal. Entangled In Sin is the second album since the resurrection of the band in 2013 and with the line-up scoring a 4 out of 5 when compared with Wrath of the Reaper that came out in 2017. And this is an aspect that reflects on the result since the band sounds more concrete and more on the Hexx philosophy since the album firmly treads the path between No Escape and Under the Spell. Of course that doesn’t mean that it can match those two cornerstones of American metal but the fact that the band has managed to partially reproduce the feeling of 84-86 is a great feat itself. Even the new singer Eddy Vega brings the untouchable Dan Bryant and his demented rasping to mind. Cuts like Power Mad, Strive the Grave, Touch of the Creature bring out the good old Hexx-iness and ultimately grace us with one of the finest moments in 2020, literally out of the blue. The re-recording of the classic Terror, serves as an added bonus.
