The sticker on the album reads “the rock album of the year” and no matter how this sounds it’s not far from the truth. The Vampires from Hollywood, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Johnny Depp are back and this time they flipped the script. There are no covers here, only original material.

“Rise” could have been easily be the next Alice Cooper album after “Paranormal” as the 13 songs that are featured in the album go full throttle taking just a small break to put the pedal down and create a magnificent rock atmosphere that makes the record breathe. There are three superb covers, “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory” (Johnny Thunders), “Heroes” (David Bowie) and “People Who Died” (Catholic Boy), that fit like a glove to the bands’s material, thanks to the quality and the experience of those three musicians.

“Rise” is a perfect album in my opinion. I don’t think they could fit anything more into it and at the same time there is nothing unnecessary.

The only thing we have to do is which format we prefer, jewel case or digipak, or one of the zillions vinyl editions.
