A few days ago we saw a letter from Colin Hart, Deep Purple’s tour manager for decades, which was about hotel bookings for the band and crew in 1993. We re-publish it as a document of the rock metal mythology. Check the nicknames for each member, except from Ian Gillan and note the band’s special requests: “please remember not to put Ritchie in a room that adds up to 13!” and “please make sure that all rooms have big beds and Ian Gillan and Ritchie both have a BATH. This is VERY important!!”. Also, at the bottom of the letter: “please have all hotels tell us BEFORE WE GET THERE if there will be any construction or renovation work, or we will kill them”.
