I was blown away by those five Swedish gilrs! I will be honest with you…when I saw the name of the band, the album’s title and the names of the songs themselves, I thought that would be yet another joke of the deteriorated music industry. Luckily for all of us, the final sonic result proved me wrong and to tell you the truth, I couldn’t be happier!

My c.d. player is absolutely monopolized by the sheer and constant playing (on the repeat mode) of “The Art of Metal”. I found on that album gathered musical elements that I haven’t bumped into before all these years. Pure heavy sound with vocals that combine both the current trend of the female fronted bands and the raspy vocals and overal sentiment of the great Doro. At the same time, we are treated by a well-crafted guiatr assault and beautiful melodies of some of the most memorable choruses one has ever heard! Even some raw brutal vocals are definitely not out of place. I could go as far as to characterize this effort by the Swedish outfit as one that has every potential of achieving commercial success with songs that can be played both in the pure rock stations and in the mainstream radio as well. Hysterica’s sophomore effort reminds of the legendary 80s sound but makes a brave step forward into the new decade so as to meet with the expectations of the young metallers out there. It is the…hysteria and that makes heavy metal timeless and immortal!
