On Tuesday (Dec. 20), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will announce their Class of 2017. And if the fans had their way, Journey would be leading the group of inductees.
In a statement on the Hall’s website, they announced that Journey — who had led since the beginning — won the fan vote, with Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, Pearl Jam and the Cars rounding out the Top Five, in that order. Those acts will comprise one of the ballots that will determine the enshrinement of this year’s class.
According to the Hall, ballots were sent to “more than 600 historians, members of the music industry and artists—including every living Rock Hall inductee.” In the four years since the Hall has allowed the fans to have their voice heard, the winners — Kiss, Rush, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Chicago — have all been inducted.
