Here’s a type of band I don’t often encounter in my musical explorations—mainly because the style they play isn’t particularly widespread within our country’s borders. Just A Pinch Of Glory are a group of musicians from Piraeus, specifically Nikaia, and they introduce themselves with the EP Into The Void. A while back they had released the single “Frantic,” which appears here again in a remastered version. The EP features five tracks in total and is currently available only in digital format.

Musically, Just A Pinch Of Glory draw inspiration from the ’70s. Their sound leans heavily toward prog rock, enriched with some psychedelic touches, and the result is a distinctly atmospheric blend. The Hammond organ weaves beautifully together with the guitars and Lillian Anerousi’s vocals.

Although I’m not the biggest fan of the more extreme experimentation associated with that era, I can say with certainty that the band keeps its ideas well controlled here; the compositions don’t meander unnecessarily. In fact, I’d say the music leans more toward rock than pure prog—and in my opinion, that’s an excellent choice.

The tracks are quite diverse, with “Lying On My Bed” standing out as my personal favorite, and the production is spotless. Then again, given the people involved, I wouldn’t expect anything less.

Into The Void is a great opportunity to discover this band—especially if you’re a fan of the sound they represent.
