Do you remember King Kobra? The older ones, definitely yes…to be accurate, King Kobra was an 80s band that never got to achieve substantial commercial success and disappeared after three studio albums. They remained mostly known due to the presence of Carmine Appice and Mark Free (that became…Marcie Free). Well, they had some pretty good songs but that was about it.

The news of King Kobra’s reformation of the classic line-up (but with Paul Shortino on vocals) and the eminent release of their self-titled record via Frontiers Records didn’t cause waves of enthusiasm among the hard rock fans and more or less retain the image that we had for them all these years. Truth must be told here…these are some very talented musicians that fail to deliver exceptional songs thus doing injustice to their names as “King Kobra” (the album) is by far worse than every single past release of theirs.

If I had to use three adjectives in order to characterize the album, those would be: uninspired, typical, detrimental. Unfortunately, that’s the truth…
Highlight: Even the cover sleeve depicts the overall mediocrity of the album.
