Kingdom Come’s story begun in 1987, when Stone Fury, Lenny Wolf’s previous band called it quits. His second band’s story sounds like a fairytale with the band reaching invisible heights, especially in the States and managed to stay on the limelight for quite a while, thanks to a couple of hits.

This doesn’t mean that Kingdom Come lacked the material, but I bet it’s not too many of you out there that can point any other songs than “Do You Like It”, which surprisingly enough is not included in this re-make compilation which features the descript presence of three new songs. Certainly, the Zeppelin accusations played an important part in the bands stepping down from their successful joyride.
So, in 2011 Lenny Wolf decided to re-introduce some of his songs using a contemporary production treatment, sounding like they are supposed to sound today, giving, as he said, a stimulus to check them out to new fans that weren’t around during the band’s heyday. We should say that the mission is accomplished, with the same atmosphere spread around the songs, and a great production that ties the sound to nowadays standards. The only exception is “Break Dow The Walls” from the Stone Fury days that stands out. Except from “I’ve Been Trying”, whose new version I didn’t like, since the original is one of my Kingdom Come favorites, the rest of the album is quite good.
Of course, I am not quite sure how many of the old fans, who already own the albums, possibly on vinyl as well, would go buy re-recordings of their favourite songs. But, if they do, I am sure they are going to have a great time revisiting familiar waters with “Living Out Of Touch”, “Can’t Deny”, and “Seventeen”. As for the new material, “Should I” stands out easily, and not just because it sounds like Zeppelin…
