A pleasant surprsise was waiting for me as soon as I put this album from Polish band Lebowski on my player. First of all, this is progressive rock with a slight touch of metal, which caught my surprise at once, and second the entire album is almost instrumental, which is always a challenge.

The album is very interesting, since the way these four musicians approach their ideas, and how those are triggered by movies from Polish cinematographers, create a magical atmosphere. According to the press release that comes together with the CD, “Cinematic” is music for a non-existent movie. The four’s performing abilities are beyond any doubt, as well as their maturity for simple and essential playing. Of course, we’re talking about first class musicians here, that could probably play super-technical. But, that wouldn’t have made any sense, and it wouldn’t have served the creation of a cohesive album, with a beginning, middle and end, like “Cinematic”.

Even though Lebowski were created in 2002, this is their first release, which was out last October. But, it’s never too late to discover great music like this, so it’s worth checking them out and discover. Click here for more information: http://www.lebow
