The great Lonnie Mack has died at 74 due to physical causes at the Centennial Medical Center. Mack was influential for other players like Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan who actually once called him “the baddest” guitarist he knew. Although he has retired for more than a decade he kept appearing in concerts and recording. He became famous for his instrumentals “Memphis” and “Wham!”, while he worked with the aforementioned Vaughan and Beck, as well as Duane Allman and Keith Richards. He was inducted in the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame in 2011 while his FlyingV is considered among the elite.
