What came out from Dave Wyndorf’s raging imagination this time around? It’s hard to say exactly, since ‘Milking the Stars’ isn’t really a remix record; it’s more of an extra, supplementary album, an alternative edition of ‘Last Patrol’. To be honest, this isn’t a ‘must-have’ release and the new songs are jams rather than complete compositions.
However, those of you that are addicted to the unique idiosyncrasy of this band and recognize the otherworldly texture of everything that is created by the duke of supernature, will find something redeeming here. Wyndorf’s experimentations, whether they concern the production or the vibe of the each song’s new version, can strengthen your appetite for Monster Magnet’s upcoming shows in Greece. I do think it’s that aforementioned vibe that actually made the space lord interested in this project in the first place.
