Nightrage  have already released 10 albums  in 24 years. The brainchild of Marios Iliopoulos, who is the only member that remains from the original line-up of the band, continues its course on the path of melodic death metal.

Few bands play like Nightrage,  or even play as good as they do. The Gothenburg scene has seen better days but there are still those beacons in the choppy sea that attract fans of a sound that tends to disappear from the trends. Now, someone will say: “but, how can you keep it interesting playing something we’ve heard many times for the last 20 years?”

The answer is simple. Marios’ got it. He can write compositions that even though they would easily find a place on a Whoracle era album still sound fresh and interesting today! Do you think this is easy? No! He may be treading on some specific formulas but he does it in an excellent way!

All the ingredients are here. From the melodic but not too melodic refrains to the acoustic guitars. From the short but comprehensive solos to the crystal clear production “Remains” is an album tailor made for every fan of this particular sound. Tracks like the opener “Euphoria Through Chaos” or the immediately following “Persevere Through Adversity” are enough to convince you to devote time to the entirety of this work.

At 41 and a half minutes, the album doesn’t tire. Without being original every track is truly enjoyable to listen to. The addition of Konstantinos Toga, the fifth vocalist in the lineup if I’m not mistaken, gives the necessary dynamics and freshness needed.

So, Nightrage are unstoppable. A band that keeps the flag of the sound they stand for firmly high. “Remains Of A Dead World” is another of their excellent works.
