Nikki Sixx says that he has “no problems” with KISS, less than a month after he called out the make-up-wearing rockers’ “End Of The Road” farewell tour for allegedly ripping off production elements from MÖTLEY CRÜE’s final trek.
On February 17, Sixx posted a side-by-side photo comparison of him being carried by a crane and Gene Simmons on strikingly similar-looking stage prop. Nikki wrote in an accompanying message: “Wow. Our body wasn’t even cold before they took this exact grande finale from our tour. Might not matter to Kiss fans but it does to Crue fans. I dug their music when I was a little kid and it was cool to Co-Headline together a few years but this disappoints me.”
Sixx’s comments came three months after CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee threatened legal action against Travis Scott when he found out that the rapper’s stage included a roller coaster the drummer claimed was too similar to the one he used on the band’s last few tours.
Nikki spoke about the alleged similarities between KISS’s and CRÜE’s stage shows during a recent interview with SiriusXM. He said: “We’ve got no problems with [KISS]. You know who we had a little bit of a problem with? This company [that built the stage] — I’m not even gonna give ’em props [by] naming them. We’ve worked with them a long time with our production manager, and they’ve done stuff with us that’s really cool, like Tommy’s roller coaster and different versions of that. And that takes a lot of technology and a lot of people to make it happen, make it cool and make it safe. You’ve gotta take that around the world. Well, then, they give the same thing to Travis Scott. And Tommy was bummed. But we misdirected our anger. He was mad at Travis Scott. Travis Scott probably didn’t even know that we even did that however many years ago. And then my thing was they’re using the same arms that we developed. But you know what? Not shame on KISS, not shame on Travis Scott — shame on the company for doing that. We will never work with them again.”
