Platinum Overdose - Standing On The Edge Of The Night

A while ago we had done an amazing interview with Platinum Overdose’s leader, Lance V. and he had specifically stated that everyone should keep an eye on this band as their first couple of offerings were nothing less than spectacular. True to their word, Platinum Overdose comes up with their third studio album in three years! Quite impressive, if you ask me, as this used to be the way artists released albums back in the 70s and 80s when hard rock reigned supreme. And you know what? The guys once again blow our minds with yet another unbelievable (platinum) overdose of hard rock magic!

Rest assured…there are absolutely no music deviations or experimentations here. Just pure hard rock! After all, the guys perfectly know what the fans want. In other words, “Standing On The Edge Of The Night” includes 9 hard rock anthems in the vein of how bands like Motley Crue, Poison, Black N’ Blue etc. used to record and release back in the mid-80s. Matt Thorr (Rough Cutt) and Steve Philbrook -on the guitar and vocals respectively- are doing a phenomenal job while the aforementioned bassist Lance V. provides a flawless production foundation thus the third Platinum Overdose record is again exceptional! Highlights include “Rock N’ Roll Rodeo”, “Scene Of The Crime” and the title track.

In another time and age Platinum Overdose would definitely be a platinum artist. Nevertheless, the music counts really. What every self-respected hard rock fan should do now is go out, buy the album and support the true, underground, hard rock music. “Standing On The Edge Of The Night” is one of the best albums of 2021.

Highlight: There is a perfect rendition of Tuff Luck’s “Tonight Tonight” in there…
