There are at least three reasons why everybody should be aware of the band Player. The first is the smash hit of the late 70s “Baby Come Back”. The second one is the fact that their bassist is non other than Ronn Moss who happens to be Ritz Forester, the character from the famous soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful”. The third and most important reason is that Player is a superb and really remarkable AOR group with a unique sense of melody in their songs while the band’s singer and basic composer Peter Beckett is a charismatic musician who was ahead of the game 35 years ago.

“My Addiction” is a 3-track EP that has been released only digitally and it is more or less a forerunner of the band’s full length album that is expected by the end of the year. Actually, there is not so much to say about those three songs…the title track and “Too Many Reasons” are fine samples of the band’s trademark sound that balances between the West Coast AOR and the Easy Listening/Radio Friendly Pop Rock. Especially, “Too Many Reasons” reminded me of the atmosphere of Def Leppard’s “X” album. As for the third track is a quite loyal rendition of the classic “Baby Come Back”.

We are eagerly anticipating the full length album…
