Rewind’s name may not sound familiar to most people out there but I’m sure that one of the two main contributors behind Rewind is relatively well known in the underground hard n’ heavy community. We’re talking about guitarist Mick Perez who has associated his name with Jones Street and Warrior. But with Rewind he is really in his element as this is a collaboration with his childhood friend and vocalist Andrew J. Kenesie. Rewind’s origins can be traced back to San Diego in the 90s. That’s when the band was formed while managing to release two albums. Fast Forward to 2024 and “I’m in Rewind” which is Rewind’s third sonic endeavor…
Upon listening to the new album by the American outfit, the first thing that one detects is a musical variety and a multidimensional sound that blends -in an excellent degree, I gotta say- traditional hard rock with alternative while one surely notices an authentic grunge aesthetic. And all this is highlighted in a flawless final result with an impressive bunch of songs. At the same time, the lyrics are clearly sensitized and bring out intense emotions placing “I’m in rewind” on a high compositional level.
In an era where everything sounds standardized and flat, Rewind comes to remind us how an album should sound. All fans of bands like Love/Hate, Saigon Kick and why not Jane’s Addiction (Nothing’s Shocking era) would do themselves a favor by checking out “I’m in Rewind”. They will not be disappointed in any way…
Highlight: This Eonian Records release also includes 2 live covers of “Dr. Feelgood” and “Jet City Woman”.
