September Code is a band based in Athens with all of their members living inside music for all of their lives. “Remembering Mirrors” is their second album which was released early in January 2012. The group combined a wide range of influences, with eastern melodies, progressive rock of the 60’s and modern rock being just some of the things you can hear in the album.

The 14 tracks of the album tell us a story. The story of the inner struggle everyone has between everyone’s two selves. The first songs of the album are more “easy going”. Songs like “Humanize” and “Before You” have somewhat catchy and powerful choruses. The vocals give an extra power to the songs. The drumming is astonishing which makes the album a bit more proggy and unique. On the track “Remembering Mirrors” (where Christiana from Elysion contributes guest vocals) I feel a change in the album. The tracks become more, heavy and dirty thus giving the album even more variety.

Extra credit must be given to guitarists Sotiris and Dimitris for creating some cool dual lead parts. If you give “Remembering Mirrors”  lots of listens, you can find some unique stuff. And that is really commendable in a time were you don’t hear lots of new things. The keyboards and the strings also make the album more atmospheric.

The crystal clear production has been done from Mark Adrian, and the mastering has been done in Sterling Sound Studios of New York by Grammy award winning Ted  Jensen ( Metallica, Alice in Chains etc.).

A really great way for the band to enter 2012. “Remembering Mirrors” is a really unique piece of work. The efforts of the band gave a great album to the troubled Greek scene. If you have not listened to them now it’s the time.
