Former Journey lead vocalist and songwriter Steve Augeri just released his long awaited single, “If You Want” , the debut from his upcoming LP Seven Ways ’Til Sunday through Hi-Hat Records and Coney Island Cowboy Songs.

Steve’s recognizable and powerful vocals soar over the song, building into a memorably epic chorus where he sings “If you want to be loved, open your heart up to me.” The song is an homage to the classic rock of the 70s and 80s with a modern take.

Steve says, “Lyrically, I wanted to reach out to the lonely hearts who never quite get it right or catch a break when it comes to matters of the heart. Musically I had some of the greats in my head, my musical heroes such as Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones and Tina Turner. “If You Want” is the first time I included a saxophone front and center and the incomparable David B. Freeman (Yacht Rock Revue) brings it.”

Steve continues, “I think I’m most proud of the writing team that developed between The Steve Augeri Band members Craig Pullman, Adam Holland and myself. I mention them in this particular order because it was in this order that the original seed was planted, then cultivated, then passed on to me for the final stage more times than not.”

The album was recorded at NYC’s Hi-Hat Studios & self produced by Steve as well as Atlanta, Georgia and Nashville, TN where it was mixed by Steve Mandile (Sixwire).

The Steve Augeri Band is in alphabetical order: Adam Augeri and former Valentine member’s: Adam Holland, Craig Pullman & Gerard Zappa will be touring in support of the new songs as well as material from his career including JOURNEY’s Greatest Hits. Tour dates listed below.

Steve is performing tonight in Palm Desert, CA at the RHENEYPALOOZA JAM alongside Alice Cooper, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter (Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers), Scott Stapp (Creed), Ed Roland (Collective Soul), and many more. The event is a fundraiser for the St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital .
