Deep Purple will release their new album, titled “Splat,” on July 3 via earMUSIC, produced by Bob Ezrin. The press release describes it as “their hardest-hitting album in decades: heavy, raw, and recorded live in the studio.”
At the heart of SPLAT! lies an idea conceived by Ian Gillan. Rather than viewing the end as a catastrophe, the album envisions it as a transformation: SPLAT! explores the end of humanity not in a raw, apocalyptic sense, but as a metamorphosis beyond physical existence. Instead of merely preserving their legacy, Deep Purple continue to expand upon it, guided by the same spirit that characterized their early works.
With SPLAT!, the band presents its heaviest album in many years, recorded together in the studio the way Deep Purple has always recorded. Once again produced by Bob Ezrin, the album draws on the sound and attitude that have always set Deep Purple apart.
Frontman Ian Gillan says: “The point we’re at now with this incarnation of Deep Purple is very much like a very ‘modern’ version of Deep Purple as they were in the ’70s.”
The album is available in various formats, including CD, black 2LP, limited edition purple 2LP, limited edition transparent yellow 2LP, MC, and a limited edition box set.
