Can Teutons play Power Metal? Well, they surely master it! Cuz they do! These guys, Steel Engraved, started back in 2006 and their sophomore finds them in a fantastic point of their career so far. They get to open for Testament and then they are off to play with Iced Earth! Dude, what happened? Yep, some wise guy will pop up here and say something stupid like “Yeah, they must have one heck of a manager”… Although I don’t share the stupidity of certain peeps, let’s say that I agree with you, wise guy… Do you think that those bands would pick them just for that? Do you honestly think they would play with bands of such calibre if they were not that good? What was that? They can afford it? Well, if you wanna play detective…
Wild double bass drumming and tons of melody, keyboards backing the guitars and impressive solos; maybe even more impressive riffs and song themes. Singer reminded me a bit of Udo during first song, “Desert uprising”, then the voice color changed a bit; the guy is surely influenced by the German tank, yet he also possess a certain style of his own. Didn’t go crazy with his voice, yet, it’s his own…
“Solitary mission” and epical meets symphonic orchestrations. Very cool style, really grand. I still have a lil’ problem with the voice, however I might be a tad… what was THAT? Sorry, folks, there is this amazing instrumental part in this song and it is driving me bananas. Boys play pro music. Next three-minuter, “Steeler”, is the ultimate concert opener or the encore treat. Galloping and pure enthusiasm. The whole essence of the idiom; man, I would love to listen to that stuff live.
Have already reached ballad-type “Forever lost” and I gotta tell ya… this is one superb group! This is one band composing GREat songs! No, I don’t fancy the ballad that much, however the rest of the bunch is adorable! Boys deserve their touring slots one hundred percent and it would be awesome to see them on stage around here.
