I have been following Tapeworm Electric since their inception. I recall presenting their EP “Fire” and conducting an interview with them back in 2019. Time passed, and the announcement of their first full-length album, titled “Moonshine,” immediately caught my attention.

Six years later, the band has remained faithful to its sound but has expanded it considerably. So, in addition to the classic rock references, we also have quite a few modern elements, although they remain consistently trippy sonically. The title track made me think of the bottle of Coca-Cola with the Fanta cap in the refrigerator (those who know, know!). The album is intensely electric, but it is not afraid to highlight the more fragile side of the band with tracks such as “Right Reasons,” featuring Giorgos Kasapidis on vocals, and “Turn Into Black.” Speaking of vocals, I insist that Argyro Igilizian has one of the warmest voices in our country.

The album is exceptionally well-structured and offers considerable variety. It is meticulously detailed and very well produced. I believe that every song justifies its place on the album. I must confess to one sin here. Where most bands leave their weakest tracks for the end (come on, who listens to entire albums anymore, many will say), Tapeworm Electric saves their best track, in my opinion, for the end. “Hold On” is perhaps one of the most addictive songs I’ve heard in a long time!

“Moonshine” is a really good album!
