It took them 31 years of a recording career (34 in total) and sales of 65 million albums in order for Def Leppard to come up with their first ever live album appropriately entitled “Mirrorball”. In our exclusive interview with Joe Elliott, the band’s singer underlined that this is not simply a collection of songs that span Leppard’s entire career but it’s rather a souvenir from the “Sparkle Lounge” tour. Why “Mirrorball”…? Because it sounds cool and it’s far better than the ultra-boring “Def Leppard Live”. We can’t argue with that one…

So, why should someone purchase “Mirroball”? Well, for starters, it’s a pretty good chance to listen how a really polished band in the studio sounds in a live environment without many overdubs and inputs. Secondly, it’s a double album that includes (almost) all the hits plus a DVD. Thirdly and probably most appealing of all of our arguments is the fact that “Mirrorball” includes three brand new studio tracks. “Undefeated” –an Elliott-penned tune- is written for all the big arenas with its anthemic chorus and the trademark Leppard vocals. “Kings of the World” is really a Rick Savage tribute to his beloved Queen while “It’s All About Believin’” is probably the most representative song, a ballad written by Phil Collen that could have easily fit in…let’s say “Euphoria” or “Sparkle Lounge”.

“Mirrorball” is like a Rocket that Rocks You Till You Drop, causes mass Hysteria, give an answer to the question of “if we wanna get rocked” and most definitely doesn’t lead us to an Arnageddon but to those timeless Rock of Ages! Will you stay two steps behind…?

Highlight: An album that includes “Rocket” surely doesn’t leave much space for a bigger highlight…
