It’s almost unbelievable but this is the first solo album by Doogie White after all these years in the musical forefront. Rainbow’s ex-singer found the time to gather some friends and record a solo album with the almost sarcastic title “As Yet Untitled”. Among the special guests we bump into such illustrious names as Patrick Johansson, Derek Sherinian, Tony Carey, Neil Murray just to name a few while the overall style of the songs can be accurately described as pure British Classic Rock. And if you want to paint a more colorful picture of the whole thing, well just imagine the atmosphere of the blues era of Whitesnake with many elements of UFO and some scattered ones by Cornerstone. There you have it.

The really positive aspect of the album is that all the songs are really catchy and remarkable. The absolute stand out track is the opener “Come Taste The Band” (a title that rings some bells, doesn’t it?) that mesmerizes you with the excellent keyboard intro that it’s shamelessly reminiscent of “Tarot Woman”. A brilliant composition! Regarding Doogie White…he is in his usual perfect vocal form and it’s a wonder how hasn’t this talented man achieved more commercial success with his projects. If you like classic rock, then do yourself a favor and buy this album.

Highlight: The album’s title was inspired by the various studio reports of the 80s where the journalist usually coined the phrase…as yet untitled!
