Bigger sound, better production, heavier songs. Mature and powerful. Drunk Jackals’ second album is an improvement and a change in direction. Still not far from party rock roots, this is now a seasoned band, having played a multitude of gigs in the last few years. Although tunes like first single ‘Tonight’ feel missing, the band sounds more coherent; they go through moods and grooves, providing the appropriate atmosphere for chilling with a beer and thinking about what your better half is doing. There’s also more anger and darkness, perhaps at the expense of groove. The jam roots are still there, but they have aged and are now ready for the next big move.
