Trevor William Church has to be one of the most prolific musicians of recent years. To anyone who disagrees with this statement, I’ll just point out that since 2017, the year Haunt was founded, he has released ten albums (!!!), compilations, singles and more. I’ll accept as an argument to counter that their albums are short in length, flirting heavily with the half-hour mark, but still even from a logistical standpoint it is an impressive achievement anyway you look at it.

Interesting also is the fact that all the albums range from good to excellent in terms of quality. That doesn’t change on Dreamers either. The album contains 8 compositions and the duration is just over 31 minutes.  Musically, Haunt play an interesting mixture of American heavy metal with a lot of atmospheric vibes. The retro keyboards that the band uses more and more recently combined with Trevor’s distinctive voice allow them to form a quite personal sound.

I would hardly put one composition below another but if I had to choose immediate favorites I would say the title track, Serenade which opens the album but also Send Me An Angel and Steel Mountains. That is practically half of the album. Send Me An Angel is a cover of the Real Life track that Haunt have brought so much to their style, or maybe it just fits their sound, which if someone doesn’t know it’s a cover I don’t think they’ll know just by listening to it.

The production is at a good level and once again we have a pretty nice artwork. Like the band’s previous works this one comes in various editions, another achievement of Trevor who practically does everything himself. Considering that Golden Arm came out about ten months ago I really take my hat off to them.

Dreamers is a strong release that should not be missing from the collection of fans of this sound.
