Insomnium know very well how to release songs full of atmosphere and emotion and they have proven it more than once. So they decided for 2023 to offer us a full length album in February and a three track EP in November. In this way they keep our interest in them undiminished and make us look for their next move. After all, it is very good for a band today to release singles or EP’s in a short period of time since the release of an album combined with the tours for its promotion definitely takes two to three years. Songs Of The Dusk contains three true epic songs and came at the right time. Every time I hear them I imagine a faraway frozen part of Scandinavia and travel along with their dark melodies. The positive is that the songs are different from Anno 1696 and this shows that the band is not running out of inspiration, keeping their identity aparrent. This is what we want from Insomnium and we hope they continue to enchant us with the same consistency. As a country, however, we will not only keep these two releases for this year, but also their collaboration with Rotting Christ mastermind Sakis Tolis on White Christ, which we were lucky enough to enjoy live on the stage of Release Athens. We roam the twilight.
