Some people should remain focused on what are they are best and most capable of and avoid over trying to make it in an area where they are not so good at. Having said that, I am not implying that one should not attempt to explore new artistic roads…quite the contrary, actually if he/she wants to remain artistically on top form. However, if you have tried numerous times without luck or success then I guess it’s time to evaluate your point of view.

Mark Spiro is a familiar and almost legendary name among the melodic rock connoisseurs with ultra successful collaborations with a great variety of musicians. We have all sang along a tune or two of his either from a soundtrack (eg. Top Gun) or from another artist’s album (eg. Heart, Bad English, Winger etc.). Nevertheless, all his efforts for a solo career were resulted to a complete failure. “It’s A Beautiful Life” is not the exception to the rule. Upon its listening, I felt like I was an extra actor on a third rate American movie of the early 90s where Patrick Swayze or Burt Reynolds play in a scene that takes place in a saloon or something.

In the background one can hear rejected songs by John Waite or throwaway tracks from “Lost Highway”. Well, you get the picture…

Highlight: I must admit, though, that the cover creates an overall positive image and it’s quite misleading in regards with what you are about to listen…
