Mike Tramp is an artist who follows his heart and every single record is a testimony of his soul or if you prefer another opportunity for him to show his fans another aspect of his multifaceted personality. “Mand af en tid” -translated as “The Man of an Era”- is Mike’s second solo album with songs written exclusively in Danish language as Denmark is the homeland of the former WHITE LION singer. I’m sure that those who had listened to “For forste gang” (his first album in Danish) had identified many familiar elements with almost all of Mike’s album of his latter solo career and the same is true in the case of “Mand af en tid”. Let’s take a closer look at things though…

For obvious reasons we can’t take an in depth look at Mike’s new album from a lyrical standpoint but what we can say with relative certainty knowing his character and his recording career in general that there is clearly a nostalgic mood and another attempt by Mike to show what it was like to grow up in the 60s and 70s in Denmark. Furthermore, the stories will draw on themes that can touch people all over the world but obviously Mike this time felt the need to reach out to his Danish friends and fans. However the result was again excellent and I firmly believe that everyone who appreciates Mike’s gigantic solo career and completely honest character will like it. So, again, here we have tracks based on acoustic (mostly) forms but also a couple of hard rockin’ tunes that will definitely appeal more to his old school fans. It’s worth saying that once again Mike doesn’t hesitate to open his soul and so for example the track “Nat pa Libelle” is written for Mike’s mother.

In the meantime, those who follow Mike’s prolific solo career I am sure that they will find many good elements in his new album. Personally, I would like to hear, if that’s possible, 1-2 tracks in English at some point – I’m referring to “Storm og Stille” and the title track- but even so, I am sufficiently satisfied with the final result of “Mand af en tid”.

Highlight: “Mand af en tid” will be released on LP (black vinyl, limited to 500 units), digipack CD and digital formats via Target Records on March 15th, 2024. All pre-orders made in Targetshop.dk are signed by Mike Tramp.
