One of the worst things in music is tagging, whose goal might be to give a detailed description of what an artist, or band plays, but it ends up limiting and trapping the audience, and sometimes even the creator. For example, Orange Goblin will always be cited as a stoner band, in most of websites, books, and music encyclopedias, despite the fact that their sound is far more wider for many years now.

Their influences from Sabbath, and ‘70s heavy rock will never let them alone, but here, on their seventh album what they play could be described as genuine heavy metal. Except from the heavy-weight riffs, there is tons of great melodies, both in the solos, as well as on the structure of the songs that will stick to your brain. And that’s the strongest card of a music album, from whatever genre it comes from. Also, what enhances the argument that a lot of work was put behind those songs is “Save Me From Myself”, that could have easily been on a Back Label Society album, since it doesn’t hide its Southern ways!

So, listening to “A Eulogy For The Damned” will be quite enjoyable for all fans of heavy rock, and metal, that don’t pay attention to limitations, and boundaries, as our favourite music should always be!
