Rage celebrate the release of their twenty first album (including “Extended power” I suppose?) and the idea to play with the well-known card game sounded about right… Intro is moving towards that direction and title track is following the scenario (title track is also the first video for the album). It’s all based on the script by Peavy and Victor. Verse sounded a bit odd to me but then I was slam-dunked by the chorus, a totally melodic chorus, showing me how easily these peeps compose GREat songs. “Forever dead” is another sample regarding their fantastic method in assembling tremendous choruses; “Feel my pain” owns an incredible leading theme.

Since there’s no point in changing a success recipe, Rage one more time around recorded at the Blind Guardian home, Twilight Hall Studios, achieving their master classic flawless German sound. Terminology sounds like a drug? Not at all, all instruments sound unique. Totally crystal, with Andre – first time participating in the compositional procedure – playing those shining drums. Tireless double bass drumming, listen to his work over “Serial killer”; isn’t that song the golden knot between King Diamond and Vinnie Moore?

During the course of this album you will notice that Rage are experimenting with a bunch of things. Speed, style, vocal methods, all sorts of mechanisms… I’ve written about their inspiration in the past, I admire them for their songs and the way they’re expressing themselves. There was no way I’d act differently. Cuz Rage won’t allow it. Every album they’ve done is high standard; Pure case of a band respecting themselves and their fans. Ehm… “Psycho terror” riffing reminds you of something?
