“The Final Jolly Roger” is truly a great document. It is about the band’s grand finale; about the last live show before the “pirates” officially split. On the 30th of July 2009 Running Wild’s hymns and cannons echoed royally –and for the last time unfortunately- in Wacken Open Air festival.
For this highly emotional night Rock n’ Rolf and his company chose sixteen of their best and most favorite songs (the exciting “Blazon Stone” and “The Rivalry” were not included). The crowd sounds ecstatic, the atmosphere is fantastic and I expect the dvd to be full of amazing images from Running Wild’s dynamic show.
The monsters of metal are bidding farewell one by one and I wonder what remains at the end. In the case of Running Wild I’m left with a bitter taste because I never had the chance to watch this favorite band that has marked my teenage years and still sends me shivers down the spine, performing live.
