Let’s start from the basics: what an excellent name for a band that perfectly captures the musical style of the 9 tracks included in the debut album with the also fitting title “All Things Black”. The truth is that such a band was missing from Greece and Saturday Night Satan arrive with a vengeance to fill this gap. Moreover, it is obvious that everything regarding the artwork, the videos and the overall image of the band demonstrates a flawless and professional approach. That’s all good and promising but is the end result what we expected? In other words, are the compositions remarkable enough to win over the potential listener and “force” him to invest in Saturday Night Satan?

Not to keep you in suspense any longer, the answer to the above question is non-negotiable affirmative! The occult vintage rock that steps with one foot in the 70’s and with the other in the modern era of the revival of the genre, coated with a clear pop aesthetic, “wins” you over at once bringing to mind bands like Lucifer and The Devil’s Blood. Moreover, this mystical atmosphere that refers to the classic horror movies from the famous Hammer Horror Studios is in perfect harmony with the aesthetics of the songs that are characterized by impressive riffs, eerie female lead vocals and mainly catchy songs that I must say that this is what counts in the end. And all of this is lined by an absolutely fitting production.

Saturday Night Satan is the pleasant surprise of the year and “All Things Black” is an album that we certainly didn’t expect from a Greek band. It’s worth checking them out at one of their live shows and, of course, supporting their effort. Good luck, guys!

Highlight: I wonder if the boys (and girl) have checked out the movie “The Devil Rides Out”?
